Ride-Along Program
The Yellow Springs Police Department invites residents, students, and community members to experience public safety firsthand through the Ride-Along Program.
Approved participants may ride as an observer in a patrol vehicle, providing an opportunity to learn more about daily police operations, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of how officers serve the community.

This initiative allows approved participants to ride as an observer in a patrol vehicle, giving you a transparent, front-row look at how our officers serve and protect the village on a daily basis.
It’s an excellent opportunity to ask questions, understand field operations, and build a stronger connection with the team behind the badge.
4 Paws for Ability
The Yellow Springs Police Department proudly partners with 4 Paws for Ability, a nonprofit organization dedicated to training and placing service dogs with individuals who have disabilities.
Through this partnership, a Police Department employee volunteers to raise and train a service dog puppy, helping prepare the dog for its future role supporting an individual with a disability.
This program allows the department to support a meaningful community mission while strengthening connections between law enforcement, service organizations, and residents.
Village-wide Events
The Yellow Springs Police Department provides operational and safety support for many of the Village’s largest community events. From traffic control and emergency coordination to maintaining a visible and welcoming presence, officers work alongside other Village departments to help events remain safe and enjoyable for residents and visitors.
Events supported annually include:
• Street Fair – Supporting traffic management, safety operations, and crowd flow during the Village’s June and October events.
• YS PRIDE Celebration – Providing a visible and supportive presence to help ensure an inclusive and welcoming environment.
• Fourth of July Festivities – Coordinating traffic and public safety efforts surrounding community celebrations.
• Halloween & Tree Lighting – Supporting pedestrian safety and community gatherings downtown.
