The Village of Yellow Springs Streets Department maintains the community’s streets, parks, and public infrastructure to keep the Village safe, accessible, and well cared for year-round. The department plays a key role in both daily operations and long-term upkeep of public spaces and essential systems. Services include street repairs, paving, stormwater maintenance, snow and ice removal, street sweeping, tree care, mowing, and maintenance of Village parks and public facilities. Please note that the Village does not provide leaf pickup services.
Services & Responsibilities
The Streets Department is responsible for maintaining and improving a wide range of Village infrastructure and services, including:
• Street paving, patching, and routine street sweeping
• Snow and ice removal, including salting operations
• Maintenance and repair of stormwater systems and storm drains
• Construction, maintenance, and repair of sanitary mains
• Inspection of resident-owned sanitary laterals connecting to Village systems
• Traffic control and street closures for community events
• Maintenance of Village-owned buildings and public facilities
• Mowing and upkeep of approximately seventy-seven acres of Village-owned public space
• Care and management of approximately one thousand Village trees, including planting, pruning, and removal of hazardous or invasive trees
• Ongoing replacement and improvement of aging infrastructure
